This form is intended to provide the starting point in a process that identifies both shortcomings and improvements needed in International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), accompanying Technical Notes on Mine Action (TNMA) or Test and Evaluation Protocols (T&EP).
When duly completed and submitted, the proposal is reviewed by the Chair and the Secretary of the IMAS Review Board, who include their comments, if any. They then circulate it to the Review Board.
If there is support from at least 25% of the Review Board’s members, the proposal for a new IMAS is submitted to the IMAS Steering Group for approval.
In the event of amendments to an existing IMAS, this form is only used when the amendments are substantial (for example, NMAA and Mine Action Organisations may need to amend their National Standards and/or SOPs).
